Pediatric Physiotherapy
Katlyn’s first job was in pediatrics working out of schools. she has been working with children for her whole career and currently works as a pediatric physiotherapist in the northern communities. she has done a lot of post graduate study in the past few years to broaden her education in pediatric treatment and has had mentorship from some excellent physiotherapists.
Katlyn particularly enjoys working with babies on their gross motor milestones. It is great to catch things while babies are young to correct dysfunctional movements before it becomes a habitual movement pattern.
Pediatric Physiotherapy is focused on treating and managing movement limitations, injuries, and developmental conditions in children from birth to adolescence. therapists use play based techniques to help children improve their strength, balance, coordination, and overall motor skills.
Common conditions seen by Pediatric Physiotherapists Include:
General gross motor delays
Torticollis
Plagiocephaly
Neurological conditions
orthopedic issues/Injuries
unusual walking patterns
